Effenus Henderson is currently Director, Workforce Representation and
Diversity for Weyerhaeuser Company, Federal Way Washington. In
this role he is responsible for overseeing workforce representation,
EEO, diversity, and inclusion activities for over 52,000 employees
across North America. As Chief Diversity Officer, he advises the
CEO and senior management team on diversity related matters and is a
recognized expert in the area. His previous role was Director of
Recruiting, Staffing and Diversity.
Prior to these positions he served as Director of International Administration and Human Resources where he managed immigration, expatriate compensation, international assignments, and foreign national compensation and benefits practices. He has been employed by Weyerhaeuser since 1973 in a variety of human resource roles. He has significant experience in recruiting, selection, diversity, international human resources, organizational development, succession and continuity planning, performance management systems, employee relations, and work systems change. He currently serves as Secretary/Treasurer, Attrition and Retention Consortium, a group of 20 Fortune 100 companies monitoring workforce attrition and turnover trends. He serves as a Trustee and member of executive committee, National Urban League Board and past Chair, Tacoma Urban League Executive Board. Additionally he serves as Vice President - Urban Emphasis, for the Pacific Harbors Council and the Western Regional Boards, Boy Scouts of America. He was awarded the Whitney Young Award for outstanding service in the community by the Boy Scouts of America. He also serves on the Puget Sound INROADS Board and the Northwest Advisory Council for the United Negro College Fund. During 2003, he served as a member of the U.S. Department of Labor's Customer Advisory Council for the Office of Federal Contracts Compliance Programs (OFCCP). Charles James, Deputy Assistant Secretary, OFCCP recognized him, for his work. Named by Diversity Best Practices as one of the nation's leading authorities on workplace diversity – 2006. Named to Monster.com's External Diversity Advisory Board – 2006. Member of the planning committee for National Race and Pedagogy Conference at University of Puget Sound – 2006. He is a former member of the Federal Way School Board and is a past President of Citizens for Federal Way Schools Organization. He is a member of the St. Francis Hospital Community Health Council where he served as Chair during 2001. He has served as a member of the Federal Way Chamber's Education Foundation Board. He is a graduate of North Carolina Central University with a BA in Psychology, has done further study at East Carolina University in business administration and is a graduate of the Stanford University Executive Program (SEP-1995). He completed Pennsylvania State University's Human Resource Management Program and is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) by the Society for Human Resource Management. |
