Linda Henderson Burke served as the first Interim Executive Director of the Institute for Inclusion. She has over 20 years' executive-level recruitment experience having consulted to and recruited on behalf of clients in the corporate, not-for-profit and government arenas. Ms. Burke began her career as a marketing representative in the information technology and hospitality industries before becoming an executive recruiter specializing in diversity recruitment. Following a stint as an independent consultant and launching her graduate studies, she became the Managing Director of the Washington, DC office of a Chicago-based executive search firm. Ms. Burke joined Fannie Mae as a Senior Recruiter in 1996. She earned Fannie Mae's Vice Chair Award in 1997 for her contribution to the design and implementation of a corporate-wide, web-enabled applicant tracking system. Since November of 2002, she has been successfully conducting search assignments and career development training for a variety of non-profit organizations. Ms. Burke has lectured nationally on various topics, including diversity in the workplace, developing a powerful career plan, and conducting successful interviews. She has a BS in Marketing from The American University and is completing a MBA in Human Resources from The University of Maryland. In 1999, she co-founded Sistermoms, Inc., a membership organization dedicated to supporting African American mothers and their families. Her other activities include active membership in Leadership Greater Washington, the Women's National Democratic Club, Leadership Montgomery, and SGI-USA. |
